Rose Rock Music Festival opening Friday in Noble

The 31st annual Rose Rock Music Festival is set for May 4-6 in downtown Noble, complete with music, a carnival, food, craft vendors, a parade, car show, poker run and a new disc golf tournament. Admission is free and open to the public.

The carnival and festival will run each day of the event, opening Friday at 5 p.m. and running to 9 p.m. The Rose Rock Queen will arrive with her court at 6 p.m. and kick off the music festivities.

Chamber focusing on future of Noble

The Noble Chamber of commerce is actively soliciting input from residents about their hopes and dreams for Noble’s future. To encourage residents to participate in an online survey, the Chamber is offering a 40-inch flat-screen TV donated by OG&E and Wolf Laser, Inc. as a prize to one lucky participant, Chamber President, Robin Stead, said.

Community-wide planning sessions are set for 6 p.m. March 1, 13, and 27 at the Noble Public School Administration Building, 111 S. 4th Street.

Noble Public Schools Foundation Bowling Tournament

Thursday, Feb 23

The Noble Public Schools Foundation for Academic Excellence is sponsoring its fourth annual bowling tournament on Thursday, February 23, 2012, from 6 to 8 pm at the Sooner Bowling Center, 550 24thAvenue in Norman.  Everyone is welcome to put a team together.  If you can’t put a team together, you may sign up as an individual and be placed on a team.  Any age may bowl.  Traveling trophies AND prizes will be awarded.  Prizes are funded in part by BROCKHAUS JEWELRY OF NORMAN.  The donation for a team of four is $250.00.  A discount is available if

Retirement reception set for First State's Cubbage

NORMAN — A retirement reception honoring Kenneth M. Cubbage, President Emeritus of First State Bank, will be held Friday at the bank’s Noble location. Customers, friends and business associates are welcome to visit with Ken and enjoy refreshments during the reception hours of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cubbage joined First State Bank in 1991 as Senior Vice President. Promotions to Executive Vice President and an appointment to the Board of Directors preceded his being named President in 2004, a position he filled through September 2011.
